Dear teacher and fellow students,
Well well,
I could not wait to check things out!!!.This is my initial response: This is a real great job that paves the way for all of us to study the text as smoothe as possible. So instead of wasting a lot of time looking for relevant webcites, here is the dish already made for y'all!!
I enjoyed the different questions raised and I suggest establishing a link to suggest outlines for their answers in which students can kick in.I,further, suggest that some pictures and maps (if possible) might have a lot of weight here to trace the way Crusoe took to reach the isle.
Last but not least,I am grateful for this helpful endeavour.
Good job,

My comment on " Emotions and Cruso"
Well Well Well,
I would like to start my comment with these small lines.

When you are aggrieved from the ones who are supposed to be fair and helpful, what remains in life to trust?!!?

When you can't say your opinion and what you believe on, why should you interact and develope yourself?!!??

These two questions are the most difficult ones to find an answer for them. The only answer that I escaped to is that, because we are in the republic of Gaza.

Any ways, back to our novel, which I pass on for the second time. I think Cruso has emotions, but he was trying to hide this fact away because, I think, he believs that a person like him should not show a set of emotions in such kind of adventures. If he showed that emotions affect him easely, he would not have gone through his experience because such kind of experiences need some sort of endurance. That doesn't mean that he has no emotions; no he went through several actions that pointed his emotional side. For example, when he saved Friday. What makes a person like Cruso who believes in slavery save Friday's life? I think it is emotions, he was not able to let those cannibals kill him because Friday is a human and this has some thing to do with innate emotions. Much more than this, Cruso referred all what happened with him to his disobeyience of his father. Again, this is an emotional reaction. There are many situations that illustrate the emotional side in Cruso's character. But I think we don't have the permission to write essays here :)
Good way of interaction and I suggest to build a blog for discusion argumentative points for students.
All The Best,

Hello
Thank you sir for this website
It enables us to interact with our classmates
Actually, i watched the film from along time . i think i am supposed to like Robinson Character but i did not like it . Robinson tells the story the English White man. This novel shows how much are the English people mentally sick. They developed the concept of being the best so they have to conqure the world. they think they are doing a favore for the world by invading them. I realised that after studying the novel course.
In my opinion , Robinson cruso does not deserve our sympathy beecuase he is a cannibal but in a diffrent way.

Dear students:
I have added new links to the blog. As the links show, there are audio files and a movie that can help you underrstand the novel in a better way. Your comments on the story are acceptable. But, try to concentrate on the themes that the text can communicate, especially the colonial mind and the ambivalence of mastery and power.

Hello all,
Thank you dear doctor for granting us your bogg to exchange some lines about Robinson Cruso. I have browsed some of the responses around. One of the responses get me to place a point to speak about.

"Emotions and Cruso"
Some of the responses stated that, "What makes a person like Cruso who believes in slavery save Friday's life? I think it is emotions, he was not able to let those cannibals kill him because Friday is a human and this has some thing to do with innate emotions. Much more than this, Cruso referred all what happened with him to his disobedience of his father. Again, this is an emotional reaction,"

I completely disagree with that opinion. I guess he saved his life to establish his own country or his own wealth. The first thing he made is making Friday a slave. So, it is like Hamlet's saying, to kill him or to get benefit of him. He, Defoe, made this not to show RC's emotional side, but to set up for the coming actins where Friday will be very important character. He will be the assistance, slave and the follow of his master. So why to kill him!!!

The ungrateful disobedient guy, RC, will not be a sign of emotions in the novel. If he will be so, why not he returned to see his family for a while. A kindhearted emotional person can't desert his family, which the core of emotions and love.

All the best,

Hello teacher and fellow students,
I literally believe that the blog's development makes it a real labour of love. The more it gets developed, the more ecstacy we experience. It is like seeing a child growing bit by bit before our own eyes!!!Believe me, this child is going to become a grown-up in no time!!!
I noticed that my fellow students were pinpointing some literary critical insights in regard Crusoe's mindset and whether he lacks emotion or not. I reckon this is a really controversial issue .Humans are humans no matter what. If he lacks emtion, he would never repent, would never name his isle the isle of despair, never wish that his dog could speak, never hallucinate with angels ,never think of releasing victims, ect.
Human phyche, i believe, is really complex to analyze. Who does not want to be in power??Who does not crave for being called a "master" ?,The HUBRIS of mankind is unescapable but it needs due time to surface and dominate.
There comes times when we stick to our guns and deviate from our parent's words.Sooner or later, we have to pay the price, but does this mean that we lack emotions??
As indicated earlier, this remains an initial response in the sense that i am done with half of the novel.
Have a lovely day all,
Expect to read from more,
Khawla M. Badwan

Dear Sameh,
First of all, I would like to thank you for passing on my comment and I highly appreciate your opinion, BUT I have my own justification for what I have posted.
I think all humans are created with emotions either good or bad, but the controversial point is that how and when they express or show their emotions??!!
Yes, Robinson Cruso saved Friday in order to make him his own slave, but away of RC's hidden purpose; do you think that the first motive RC thought of when he saw Friday in a trouble is how to make use of that troubled man??!! I think RC was touched by the savage way Friday was treated of and then he thought of business.
So, from a feminist perspective emotions are always there; but the issue is that how and when we use them. I think you are going to be in a trouble with feminists.
Have a good day,
Mona Abu-Amr

well I think some of the comments in here are realy useful. I agree with Khawla to start a link for the question answers.

Deeba Abu Nijila I respect your point of view but I cannot agree with you. the theme of the novel lies way behind what you got. yes we find the arrogance of the white people, but this is not the point.

as for you dear Mona I think that you raised an important issue about why Friday was saved by Robinson. But if it was emotions that drove Robinson to save Friday then why did not these emotions move when he used to buy and seal slaves. I think it goes more in to his human side. can we cosider this emotion?? maybe. He did not think. he just moved subconsously. so I cannot understand Sameh's opinion. in a moment like that a man will not think of all of that associated with business. and if he was so good in business, then he would stop going on voyages when he succeded.

Sir I would like to suggest a place for such an argumentation. and thank you for giving us this chance again.
Have a good day.

Hello All,

As the race of debate got longer in the Dr's Bolg. I forgot the poor webct of the American Lit. The more people get in discussion the more we will be in a hot water in terms of view.

I'm really happy that we have stuck issues or issues in this space. This, maybe, will drive us to wear the critics' cloak for a while and to begin acting like them.

Related to the Khawla's comment I do agree with her, but partially. Human are human, but generally speaking he wasn't that human who is full of emotion and sympathy. The solitude he was in pushed him to seek a companionship even his dog. So, the reason for these emotions maybe psychological rather than emotional. Psychological is wider than emotional, so I would classify him as a man of half heart. Imagine with me, if Cruso in Brazil, Do you think he will pay attention for slaves in terms of emotions, Or will he seek expanding his business as all colonialists do and he is one of them?

That's all for this point. I think we have to raise another point in order to cover the novel.

Hello,
I want to ask a question based on our intial reading to this novel.

Trace the Religous aspects in Robinson Crusoe?
I hope i'll be finding answers away of mine!!

rania alqeshawi said...

Id like to show u the theme of "Robinson Crusoe". First of all we have major theme, and minor theme.
The major theme in the play is that sin has its retribution, but peace can be found through the forgiveness and belief. Crusoe is the prodigal son. He runs away to sea against the wishes of his family. A series of disaster happen to him as a sailor, as punishment for his rebellious nature. When Crusoe finally lands in Brazil, he becomes a prosperous planter. Still unsatisfied with his wealth, he again provokes Providence by becoming a slave trader. As a punishment, his ship is wrecked in a storm, and he alone escapes to an uninhabited island, where crusoe undergoes a spiritual regeneration, becoming a Christian and coverting Friday to Christianity as well.
After twenty-eight years on the island, he is finally able to escape. The prodigal son returns to England and finds himself very rich due to the ongoing success of his Brazilian plantation. Now, however, Crusoe is mature enough to handle his good fortune in life: he settles down, marries, and becomes generous with both family and friends. His changed soul, no longer rebellious, finds peace.
While the minor theme in this novel is the glorification of the imperialist dream. Crusoe is the Englishman who colonizes the island,"civilizes" the native, and protects his colony from enemies. Almosr from the beginning of his stay on the island, Crusoe both consciously and unconsciously behaves as an agent of the British Empire.

علاء نعيم الغول said...

To Rania
Actually you have powerfully presented an overwhelming explanation regarding Crusoe's personal change and his colonial role as a part of an imperialistic empire.
Good thinking!

Anonymous said...

Dear all,
As far as I can tell, Rania was doing a real good job whem she pinpointed the possible themes underlying this master piece! Added to Rania's nice ideas ,I would humblyt add the theme of SLAVERY and Racism as a major theme whose echoes can be traced on RC's encounter to Xury, who worked on hands and knees to serve him, but RC rewards him BIG BIG times by selling him.FUrther, he left Brasil for the sake of launching slave trading.Try to link between this and the way he treated Friday who AGAIN refused to abandon the Isle leaving RC alone.Who is more human? black or white.
Part of the poetic justice of the text, RC was enslaved himself before enslaving others!!!
The aforementioned is few scattered ideas that have just popped into my head.Let's work together to develop this further,
Have a lovely weekend.
Khawla.

Anonymous said...

Hello all once again

I think that Rania and Khawla left nothing to be said. but I would like to ask a question. Why will a mature man like RC keep repeating the same fault over and over again? can he be treated as the child who is having his first steps and want to go discover every thing around him no matter how many times his falls and no matter how much pain he feels?

as for Sameh, your question about the religious aspects reminded me of somebody whom I don't want to remember. but It is very important.

the religous aspects are not really obvious until Robinson is stuck on the island. as he is stuck with the bible with nothing to do and no one to speak to. and after he sees the Black knight whom is considered to be a warning to him. he starts reading from the bible, having a sabath day, then he sees a religious illumination and realizes that God has delivered him from his earlier sins.
The intristing thing is that Robinson reaches maturity after turning to God .

question: Don't you think that when calling Robinson the KING of the island, Defoe is saying the king's hand is everywhere and this is a british collony. so the KING's hand is the conroler her.

Yet I think that carries some criticism in somehow. Robenson was a KING on nobody. he ruled nobody until Friday comes. Hence the King of England is likewise seems to be with out people. and when people are around, they would only be his servants.

I know I speak tooooo much. sorry for that. but this great peice needs to be discussed toooooooooooooooooo much
If I have not bored you
Have a nice day
If I did then Good night

Dear Teacher and fellow students, Each time I visit this nice blog, my eyes have to be caught with something new. I do literally believe that changes are always good.
As for Sameh's Question, I'd like to thank you on raising this point:
As for me.I believe RC is a big hypocrite who remembers God at the time of his oreal. Being struck with that vision of an angel mocking him asking him to repent comes from his inner turbulent subconscious .Finding nothing to do, he had no alternative,I believe.Am I so harsh on RC?
Well, as for Allaa's question, RC is sinking in his sins to formulate this motif of sin and repentance from one side and to add this religious mask to the whole work.
As for the king's part,it sounds controversial to call himself a king even when he was alone. Is it the European proud mind? Is it his own way of feeling good about himself?Haply.

Dear Friends,
I hope you are all keeping well and having time:) I think all of you are doing a great job here, so keep it on guys.
As for Sameh's new topic and Khawla's response to it; I think it is really an important point that we should elaborate more and more. Although Khawla stated a wonderfull and harsh perspective towards RC, I would like to be more compassionate with him.
It is true that from the very beginning RC did not show any religious readiness. But after the troubles which he had combined with solitude on the Island, he began to reunite with himself and restate his attitude towards god and his existence.
To calrify my point of view more, look at our daily life and our human nature. We are running our life in a hasty way that does not give us the chance to contemplate in many issues of our lives because every thing is going like it is. But, when any one of us falls in a trouble and begins to be separated from others, solitude, s/he starts to re-think of his /her life, what troubles s/he had, the reason of those troubles, solutions for them, and then comes to a conclusion that god is there. God can help us if we ask him, but the problem was that we don't ask or befriend with him.
So, Khawla, with all respect and appreciation to your opinion, I think that the far away one from god does not remember him unless s/he has a trouble.

And hey guys what's going on wake up and say a word here, the term is about to finish and then we will be graduates.
All the best,

Well Well Well,
After posting my comment, I came up with a crazy idea. That is Rc is not a racial!!!!! I know it's crazy, but it may came to my mind after watching the gorgeous movie. So come with me step by step and don't be mad of me, I am not a racial by the way.
After RC had met Friday and they became friends, they were cooperating together in order to make their life on the Island easier and more comfortable. Yes, at first RC considered Friday as a slave. But after knowing the value of having a companion on that deserted Island, he was telling friday for many times that " You are not a slave, you are my friend". This quotation illustrates the new attitude of RC towards slavery and racism specially when RC and Friday went to Friday's home Island and they were fighting for the sake of one of them survival. RC was about to kill Friday, but he stopped and he was not able to do it. Friday on his turn was not able to do it too and he was shooted by the captine not RC. What I want to say from all of this is that; RC was fighting against a dominant culture of that time and he succeeded in forming his own new thoughts and conceptions, but the surrounding society is not able to absorb this new ideology as quickly as he imagines.
Again yeas RC, in the text book, left his homeland for commercial reasons and trading in slaves. But I claim that after meeting Friday he changed his conception and perspective about slavery and racism because he was touched when Friday expressed about what do they feel towards white people as black ones. "White people are bad", so RC went home back with a revolutionary goal;i.e, changing the whole conception of slavery and racism.
I know this is crazy but I hope you can find a space for it in your thoughts, though it is not my fault. Treachers are always pushing us to create CREATIVE ideas and new thoughts.
All the best,
Mona Abu-Amr

Religion associated with colonialism

Good Moro to you all,

Thank you deeply for the magnificent previous posts.

On my first post which was a reply on the emotional side of RC I touched upon this point. RC's colonial mind deprived him from putting into practice his emotions. This colonial mind "RC" represents the hyperactive movement in that century.

This novel, fundamentally, aimed at urging the matures to get to adventures. These adventures come throughout the colonial and expedition campaigns. So, it was a chance for Defoe to popularize his novel in a time all people, especially matures were enthusiastic for so.

Back to the novel, the arrogant idea of civilizing is back and I do agree with previous posts in this regard. Defoe, hard tried to show us how the Europeans are civilized. They just want to civilize this world by religion and colonizing!!!. This world, rejects this idea and this appeared by Friday's refusal.

A point comes to my mind, is that we have a linkage between colonialism and machinery acts in that time. Consequently, Defoe is saying, we are civilizing you and we are driving you to the true religion.

A sarcastic view appeared by the end of the film. Friday is the monster and he will be killing his friend. A lovely dove comes to salivate the blond European colonizer from this monster. The irony here, is that colonizers spoiled the life of original people all over the world. Look to Australia, America, Canda and south Africa. They didn't civilize the people. They segregated them in camps and were very racial ones.

One last point, I do think that RC alike Jesus. Jesus was salivated and raised to God after a 3-day-suffering. It wasn't an easy mission for him to get back to go. Similarly, RC needs such a suffering to get back to his god. These sufferings were his loneliness, ordeals, shipwrecks and nightmares.

Waiting for comments!!!

Yours,
Sameh

Hey Guys,
I think Sameh and Khawla are doing a great job, however we need to see the rest of the male students. It seems that Sameh can't hold the competition alone, so wake up and let us know about your BRILLIANT ideas.

For the colonial aime, I fully agree with what Sameh said and I think it was a successful try from Defoe to provoke his people and to encourage them to take this challenge and expand their kingdom around the world.
I do respect your point of view regarding the similies between Jesus and RC, but I don't think that Defoe wanted to portray Jesus as a colonist. You said that there was a colonial aim behind RC's expansion on the Island, so how come is Jesus a colonist? if so in what ways? is it in terms of religion? is he a missioner?

As for Khawla's comment, I think you are right we Friday was found to help RC. But is it a shame for a friend to help his /her friend if this friend is in a trouble??
Good Job guys

rania alqeshawi said...

Hello every body.
I'd like to talk about Friday character. Probably the first nonwhite character to be givin a realistic, individualized, and human portrayal in the English novel, Friday has a huge literary and cultural importance. If Crusoe represents the first colonial mind in fiction, then Friday represents not just a caribbean tribesman, but all the natives of America, Asia, and Africa who would later be oppressed in the age of European imperialism. At the moment when Crusoe teaches Friday to call him "Master" Friday becomes an enduring political symbol of racial injustice in a modern world critical of imperialist of expansion. Recent rewritings of the Crusoe story like J.M. Coetzee's Foe and Michel Tournier's Friday, emphasize the sad consequence of Crusoe's failure to undrestand Friday and suggest how the tale might be told differently from the native's perspective. Aside from his importance to our culture, Friday is a key figure within the context of the novel.
In many ways he is the most vibrant character in Robinson Crusoe, much more charismatic and colorful than his master. Indeed, Defoe at times underscores the contrast between Robinson's and Friday's personalities, as when Friday, in his joyful reunion with his father, exhibit far emotion emotion toward his family than Crusoe. Whereas Crusoe never mentions missing his family or dreams about the happiness of seein him again, Friday jumps and signs for joy when he meets his father, and his emotional display makes us see what is missing from Crusoe's stodgy heart.
The mere fact that an Englishman confesses more love for an illiterate caribbean ex-cannibal than for his own family suggests the appeal of Friday's personality. Crusoe may bring Friday christianity and clothing, but Friday brings Crusoe emotional warmth and vitality of spirit that Crusoe's own European heart laks.
GOOD BYE.
HAPPY DREAMS.

Dear teacher and fellow students:
What is Defoe doing here?? The more I go into the text, the more ambivalent I grow.Do you know my friends that RC was planning to save the life of a savage to use him as a means to escape even before encountering Friday? So you see RC is a real cold person. I am sorry but I start to hate him.Dont you share this feeling with me?? What's happening to humans ?I started to like Friday with his unfeigned honesty.
Have you noticed the way Defoe mocks the Roman Catholics.
Good Luck

Hello brilliants and Mona,

To Mona,

Thank you for your overview over my lines. I was writing the response of mine regarding one point which is colonialism. Some points battled on my mind pushing me to mix between religion and colonialism.

To put things in context, the simile I depicted was merely my own reading. I pretended to be a critic and I created such thing. I wanted to say that if a person salvation and repentance he has to be good. In case of being bad one: disobedient, ungrateful and scholar like RC. Therefore, this needs ordeals to purify him like RC's ones. I'm not saying Jesus was bad, but the meet point just take place in the ordeals. These ordeals are the only way to get back to God. And the sufferings of Jesus were his way back to God!!!

Thank you all,
Truly yours,
Sameh

‎ Reading such commentaries encouraged me to think about the theme that might act as a ‎developmental tool in this novel which is about fathers and sons esp we were introduced at ‎the beginning to RC and his father. Then we saw RC befalling many misfortunes that can be ‎traced to his ‘original sin’ concerning his father and his disobedience to his warning about ‎going to sea . RC’s desire for sea grows day by day. So would u lot interpret RC’s ‎disobedience to his parents?‎
‎ To me, I think such an ambiguous relationship has been kept for a certain purpose but what is ‎it?! Is it because Defoe wants to make Crusoe’s exodus much more believable and thus more ‎humane to us as readers. Can’t wait to hear from u guys:)
have a nice new week!

Dear All,
I fully feels overwhelmed with this sense of happiness whenever I check out the latest updates and posts. I further believe that in this high pace, this web of OURS will go beyond any compare.
At any rate, let me start with Sameh,As you know reading a colonial discourse makes a reader bury all his emotions because it is no longer a matter of humanity rather , it is a matter of survival and mastery. From this angle,I agree with you, Sameh, that RC as a human is cruel, cold and savage from inside(in opposition with Friday).
Next comes Sarah's post, Yes Sarah, my friend, De foe is creating an exemplrey out of this text. But the real paradox relies in RC's adimmision that Friday is becoming a way better Christian!! Am I not telling you that my head starts to kill me with all this Ambivalence!! Come on Defoe, have mercy on US !!!!!
All the Best

The love of money is the root of all evil. A proverb which is asserted throughout the incidents of this novel. All evil deeds which were committed by Robinson was for the sake of money. He disobeyed his father for the sake of money. He sold his sincere (friend) if we consider him a friend for the sake of money. Actually, Robinson does not deserve his friendship. Anyway, Getting money was Robinson's sole priority . Usually, the protagonist of the novel is a good character. A character who deserves sympathy. In this novel, Defoe did not choose that picture of an ideal hero. For example, Macbeth in the beginning of the play was good character then he turned to be negatively ambitious. However, from the beginning of this novel , Robinson commits sequential mistakes. I think that Robinson's character is more close to Dr.Faustus character . Both of them are the heroes of their story ,but they do not deserve sympathy. They are not like Shakespearian characters .Anyway the good thing in this novel that it ends a convincing end.
Is Crusoe good or bad.? I think , he is acting like normal human beings. No body is perfect. So, we should not be so hard on him.

Dear teacher and fellow students,
What a nice piece you have been doing Deeba. Yes, eagerness towards more is the source of our misery in life. Yes, what you have been suggesting makes Crusoe Adam-like in the way he wanted to seek a better status higher than the middle station of life the same way Adam did when was decieved to eat from the forbidden tree. Maybe I am quite harsh on Crusoe ,Deeba, but I have to agree with you that Crusoe is a representative of every human on earth. Perfection is divine my friends,
I am really happy to read those new insights.
Never forget to thank the teacher who helped us out.

Robinson Cruses and sin

Robinson Cruses is a real controversial character. Several aspects of vague character are available in his character. Maybe, these aspects go beyond an individual and symbolize numerous aspects within society, religion and other things.

Clearly, his sin of obedience is same as Adam's one. It is an issue of argumentative debates for philosophers. So, does Adam responsible for his sin... Does Robinson responsible for his sins. Some will say no, God created him. Thus, God is the only one who can guide a person either to sins or good deeds.

I'm not going to detail further; I guess my lines contain a very hot philosophical issue. I hope you develop what I have mentioned and I'll do the same.

Sam

hey guys
iam a new guest to this wonderful blog which i desired alot. there is no time to talk so i wanna add my brief comment about Crusoe's original sin which is a religious theme, and hopefully u enjoy my humble work.first of all, crusoe's conversation wid his father about leavin' home can be interpreted from a religious perspective as well as an economical one. Crucoe repeatedly refers to leavin' home without his father's permission as his "original sin".Secondly, he did not associates God and his father but regards his sin against his fahter as a sin against God. further more, crucoe himself committing Adamand Eve's sin of disobedience blablabla and of course you know what is gonna happen finally.

thanx alot for ur cold nevres and patiencee

good morning for you all, guys and gales even it seems that gales are domenating the area and Sameh is the lonely un-known soldier from our side.
Actually this is my first time to read your comments and I'm very impressed with them. The process of posting comments makes understanding the novel much more easier.
As far as I can undestand the novel, I don't respect Robenson in anyway. He is arrogant, selfish, opportunist and utilitairianist. For me, I liked Friday more than him, for Friday is sincer, faithful and always ready to sacrifice himself for his friend even if Crusoe does not deserve what Friday made for him. Specail thanks for Rania Alqeshawy who gave us an adequet analysis for Friday's character.

Cast out from the sea
A sole survivor
Isolated in the desolate unknown
Having to start from a clean slate.

Resisting the wishes of parents
He had left for sea
Time and time again
wandering without direction.

Now the only one that remains
from a devastating storm
Forced to rely on instinct
In order to survive.

But this time which seemed bleak
lead him to religious conversion
Time to talk to God
and try to fulfill God's duty.

Time then passed on
Discoveries were daily events
however none would be more fearful
than those who ate of flesh.

Another abandoned ship
Made its way into Crusoe's hands
and from it he took provisions
that would lead to his later deliverance.

The flesh eaters lost a victim
whose name would later be Friday
A slave to Crusoe as it would seem
A companion after years of loneliness.

A makeshift boat
with two wanderers inside
It set off to find main land
A dream they had often.

A week or so elapsed
Salvation was finally theirs
Returning to an English home
only to lead to more adventures. ‎

Hello all,

A free thinking time

A friend of mine is making a master degree in Egypt in English Lit. She told me a about a theory which is strange a little bit. For sorry, I forgot the name. But, in this theory, we have things upside down. Imagine the end of King lear as the coming. Cordelia defeated the English Army and king lear returned as a king. Edmund is an innocent while Edgar is the cunning!!!

Macbeth is also innocent while the devilish person is Macdouf. Because, Macdouf was the reason who made Macbeth to kill his family. Macbeth was afraid that Macdouf will take power. So, Macdouf is the reason!!!

Apply this theory to all literary works. It is very interesting, especially in Robinson cruse!!!

Do it and jot down here in the Blog the outcome of ur mind!!!

Note: this theory needs intelligent ones.

Yours,
Sameh Habeeb

I am sorry for my late to write my comments that i have many things to do in anther subjects. any way, when i watched the movie of "Robinson Crouse" I found it different from the text that i feel that Robinson full of emotions that he cries when Friaday died. also, when friaday known that master is not the name of Robinson that he become angry this make Robinson cries.I think the auther of the film wanted to make us symbathy with the hero. but in our text we noted that Robinson was heartless. I think that every human have emotion. Finally i need you sir to show me if my opinion true or not.

Thank you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

hey all, iam mahmoud G. Jamie , i've added some comments before but it seems difficult to guys these days to remember their passwords. anyway i have something new to add, and i wanna share these ideas with my classmates and our dearest instructor.

Human Condition,,,,
Robinson Crusoe is a meditation on the human condition, and an argument for challenging traditional notions about that condition. Finding himself alone in a deserted island, Crusoe struggles to maintain reason, order, and civilization. His "original sin" is his rejection of a conventional life. When he leaves England for a life on the high seas, he refuses to be "satisfied with the station wherein God and Nature hath placed" him.
Crusoe struggles with — and eventually triumphs over — nature. The book suggests that this struggle is at the heart of human nature: man is on earth to triumph and gain profit from nature. Any profit makes sense in this view of the world, whether that means getting just one plank out of a huge tree or building a boat too heavy to bring to the water. Once Crusoe is able to overcome his fear and subdue nature is rewarded handsomely.

hey colleagues, iam Ramez Zoarob and this is my first commentary and iam very sorry for being late for some oersonal matters. first of all, i wanna thank our dearest doctor alaa for this blog though i can not express my delight. i wanna discuss the theme of fear in Robinson Crusoe...
Robinson Crusoe must overcome his fear in order to survive his long ordeal on the deserted island. The trial by fear begins when he runs about like a madman, scared of every shadow, and sleeps in a tree with a weapon: "fear banished all my religious hope, all that former confidence in God." He quickly realizes that he must recover his wits and reason if he is to survive.

At several points in the narrative, Crusoe is almost overwhelmed by his fear of the unknown. It propels him to colonize the island, securing his shelter and becoming self-sufficient. His ability to funnel his fear into productivity and creativity allows him to survive under extreme conditions.

Crusoe masters his fear when he faces the ultimate challenge — the devil. Investigating a cave, he is met by a pair of eyes. At first scared, he realizes that he can confront this enemy just like he has met every other challenge on the island. "He that was afraid to see the devil, was not fit to live twenty years in an island all alone."

With that, he rushes in to confront the devil and discovers a dying goat. He has passed his trial. Had he not faced his fears, he would have run away in full belief that the devil lived in that cave. Instead, he investigates and confronts his fear.

Many readers agreed that Robinson lacks emotions. According to the way he mentioned the death of his wife and his parents this account can be considered true. However, the reader will feel confused when he or she reads the paragraph of the parrot's death. Robinson feels very sad and admit that none of the parrots which he have will be like Polly.
Another worth noting event is Robinson's confession of his feelings towards Friday. It is the first time that he confesses that he loves any body. He even felt jealous when Friday expressed his willing to return home and see his father.

Many would not agree with me that this would be an evidence that Robinson does not lack emotions. They will argue that Friday was treated as a slave. Robinson has never considered him an equal person . He dealt with him in terms of superiority.
He pitied him and dealt with him as a poor creature.
Nevertheless, pitied himself too. He called himself many times poor Robinson
The second argue is he felt always superiority because of his European mind.
Europeans , especially English dealt with other nations in superior manner. They conquered the world. This conquest gave them that sense of superiority. Therefore, it is not the fault of Robinson that he had such a Formula in his mind.

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I felt unhappy missing knowledge about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never thought that there weren't any need in large initial investment.
Now, I feel good, I begin to get real money.
It gets down to select a correct partner who uses your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real business, and shares the income with me.

You may ask, if there are such firms? I'm obliged to answer the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
